* It will charge off the USB on a PC or a cigarette lighter in the car - out of the box
* The battery had a charge when we got it at Frys Electronics and found several satellites right away - while we were in Frys parking lot. It even figured out how to get out of the parking lot.
* We set our address in about a minute and off we went. Got off the freeway early and it plotted surface streets the rest of the way. Took 4-5 alternate routes and it continually replotted. We live out in the sticks and I took 'off beat' roads - it continually replotted.
* The 'nighttime' feature is great - much easier on the eyes.
* The suction mount is very nice. Put it to the windshield, turn the dial, it is stuck. When done, turn the dial back and peel it off the windshield. I like. You can leave the 'suction' part on the window and take the GPS with you when you park the car.
* The device does not get hot. Batteries last for quite a while. The screen is fairly bright and responsive to touch.
* GPS resolution ... No doubt others do this too, but walk with it in your hand for 3 feet and it adjusts.
On the Southern California freeway - it kept saying "Stay In Left Lane" .. :-) ... now I know why everyone drives in the left lane ... it's the GPS telling them to.
Under 'help' it'll show your latitude and longitude to within about 3 feet. I want to find ways to add lats and longs - can't seem to do it - but I might fuss with it more.
Why not 5 stars?
* The mount and GPS is a bit bulky to go in a pocket - but it will. When you detach the mount, it 'kinda' exposes some of the guts - but it will go nicely in a pocket then.
* The lats and longs - I can't seem to plot a course to a given lat and long.
* I wanted a wall plugin charger - seems they want to soak me for another $20.
* Installing the software that is in the GPS onto my computer tripped my anti-virus (comodo) like 10-15 times even though the anti-virus was in 'install' mode. ooh well.
It's a keeper. Just keep an eye on traffic and not the GPS :-)
